San Francisco Deluxe Sightseeing
Golden Gate Park Tour
Green Line
San Francisco’s largest park, Golden Gate Park covers over 1,013 acres and is 3 miles long by 1/2-mile wide, larger than New York City’s Central Park. Well known as the country’s largest park. Once nothing more than barren sand dunes, Golden Gate Park owes its existence to tenacious Scotsman John McLaren, who created the landscape we see today in the late 1800s, a task many thought impossible.
Visible from the Golden Gate Park loop is Mary’s Cathedral, Japan Town, Alamo Square, Victorian houses, the famous Painted Ladies and Haight Street. Golden Gate Park offers gardens, lakes, waterfalls, a Victorian conservatory, a bandstand concourse, the Japanese Tea Garden, a polo field, a golf course, massive lawns and athletic fields and a first-rate children’s playground. Home to the De Young Museum, San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum, Conservatory of Flowers and AIDS Memorial Grove.
